A couple of months after the great Patty’s sink emergency, Jenna upgraded from diaper chaos to customer relations — by crawling across my desk, answering the work phone, and happily babbling to one of my associates like she owned the place. ❤️☎️😂

A couple of months after the great Patty’s sink emergency, Jenna had clearly decided she was ready for bigger responsibilities.

By then she was old enough to crawl around on my desk while I worked.

And one day, while I was in the office, she did something that still makes me smile.

She answered the phone.

Not metaphorically.

Not “kind of reached for it.”

She actually got hold of the work phone, picked up the receiver, and began enthusiastically babbling into it like she was handling an important business call.

On the other end of the line was one of my associates.

And as far as Jenna was concerned, this was now a perfectly normal conversation.

She was happy as a clam, chattering away with total confidence, as if she had been managing client communications her entire life.

Meanwhile, I was watching this tiny little person sprawled across my desk, surrounded by papers and office clutter, carrying on what she clearly believed was a very important discussion.

It may not have been the most productive call in company history.

But it was definitely one of the cutest.

There was something hilarious about seeing a baby act like she belonged in the middle of a workday, casually taking over the office phone as if she had simply decided it was her turn.

And honestly, she seemed completely at ease with the assignment.

If memory serves, my associate was a pretty good sport about the whole thing.

It’s one of those moments that sticks with me because it captured something wonderful about that time in life: work, family, chaos, laughter, and a little girl who was clearly very pleased with herself.

Jenna didn’t just interrupt the workday.

For a few minutes, she improved it.

Jenna, if you ever read this: you were adorable, you were fearless, and apparently you were ready for office communications before you could even talk properly. ❤️☎️

Based on actual events. Some details are lovingly reconstructed from memory, but the joy — and the baby phone call — are entirely real.
